TiVo RSS Reader

TiVo RSS Reader is a simple, general-purpose RSS reader. It's written with TiVo Home Media Engine and Bananas SDK.

1. To run RSSReader on TiVo first make sure that your TiVo DVR meets the requirements described on the HME Quick Start page.
2. Download and unpack the TiVo HME SDK 1.2 and ensure the samples included in the TiVo HME SDK work on your TiVo DVR as expected.
3. Download and unpack the Bananas SDK 1.2.1.
4. Download and unpack the RSSReader [tar.gz | zip]
5. Copy the hme.jar from the TiVo SDK into the <RSSReader>/lib/ directory. Copy the bananas.jar from the Bananas SDK into the <RSSReader>/lib/ directory.
6. Update the sample configuration file (<RSSReader>/etc/sample.feeds.rss) or create a new one with the RSS feeds you want to view.
7. Start the RSS Reader application by running:

    <RSSReader>/bin/run <RSSReader>/etc/sample.feeds.rss
   

8. Select the RSS Reader application listed under the Music, Photos & More menu in your TiVo DVR.
