The changes file you are refering to is petsc-2.0.7.

so SNESGetNumberLinearIterations() was added in petsc-2.0.7. This
function is changed to SNESGetLinearSolveIterations() [perhaps in
2.3.3 - but didn't get documented in the changes file for that
version]
