Andrew:
Please give some more detail of exactly the problem you're seeing.Â
There is code in the AG services to counter some of the mapping
problems with these devices, but with changes in vic and uncertainty
about which drivers you're using, and lacking a description of the
problem, I can't for certain know what's going wrong for you.

Also, I forgot to add that this new SUMOVER vic also has
the videum-port-changing bug - unfortunately I can't seem to find the
old page for it - meaning that this vic code presumably does not
include some bugfixes (that became part of "AG vic", I think) from
nearly a year ago (!)

The
only major issues that we're seeing revolve around firewire/dv support.
On Windows, firewire capture shows flashing vertical white lines (as
has probably already been mentioned on the list), and on Linux (Ubuntu)
vic can't see any firewire devices, and I have the device permissions
set correctly as far as I can tell so I don't think the problem would
be on my end. I'm guessing that the Linux issue is due to the current
Linux packages (from Chris at UQ) not actually including the "enhanced
vic" code that supports DV and was developed at UQ, but rather just the
new h.264-supporting code from SUMOVER. Is this correct, and if so,
will these codebases be merged?

Service packages for Mac OSX have been added to the project web page
referenced below. Note that the embedded vic executables will work on
either Intel or PPC Macs.
Again, please report problems liberally so we can improve this support.

A beta version of the h264/mpeg4 services can be gotten from here:
ÂÂÂ http://www.accessgrid.org/project/Sumover
Note that it is currently only for Windows. I'll work to get the Mac
version up. I expect that Doug/Chris will provide Linux support very
soon.
Also note that if you are using these services to send mpeg4/h264,
anyone who does not have the mpeg4/h264 consumer service installed will
not be able to see your video.
Please report problems liberally so we can improve this support.

Has there
been any more progress with H.264 and AG 3.1? Also has anyone seen the
new Osprey 700 HD?
