[AG-TECH] Re: [AG-USERS] AGSchedule - Instructions to install the NCSA Root Certificate
Paul,
Firefox will use the certificates installed in IE, they actually go to
the system's central repository. If you don't have IE, then in Firefox,
you can go to Tools->Options->Advanced and click View Certificates. The
steps are much the same from there. Please remember that this is Firefox's
own repository and other applications may not have access to it.
The NCSA Root Certificate will show in the Certificates list as "CACL".
If, in IE, you go to Tools->Internet Options->Content, then select the CACL
certificate and click the view button, look at the details for the CACL
root
certificate, Select the Issuer item and you will see the Organization(O) is
National Center for Supercomputing Applications.
One other thing omitted from my previous instructions was that as a last
step, you may get a dialog asking to confirm the import. Click "Yes" and
you will get the "Import Successful" dialog.
Please let me know if you have further questions.

How do we import this into Firefox on Windows? Also, how should the
certificate identify itself in the IE Certificate store? Although it
claims that the certificate was imported correctly I can't see
anything NCSA-releated in Tools->Internet Options->Content-
Certificates (IE 7)
Thanks

Subject: [AG-USERS] AGSchedule - Instructions to install the
NCSA Root Certificate
There have been some questions about how to install the NCSA Root
Certificate, here's a step by step for your convenience.
1. Open Internet Explorer.
2. Download the file located here:
http://agschedule.ncsa.uiuc.edu/NCSA_ROOT_CERTIFICATE.cer
and save to your desktop. This can be easily done by using the link
on
the security page of the AGSchedule tour:
https://agschedule.ncsa.uiuc.edu/tour/t_security.asp
Make note of the filename as IE will want to save it as an htm file
by
default. Save the file with a .cer extension.
3. In IE go to Tools->Internet Options->Content->Certificates
4. Click the Import... button
5. Click Next, then click browse and select the file you saved. If
the
file was save with a different extension, select "All Files" in the
file
types box to make the file easy to find.
6. Select "Automatically select the certificate store based on the
type
of certificate"
7. Click Finish.
You will receive a dialog stating the import was successful.
