Jeremy,

Looking at the VenueServer3.py code, the option to specify a particular config file is -v (not -c).

but doing a tail of the
directory, I noticed a "new" file created called VenueServer.cfg which
had the wrong textPort. Changing this to 5223 fixed my problem. I hope
nobody else has this problem.

If no configuration is specified (using -c instead of -v would fit this category) a new VenueServer.cfg is created in the directory that your're running the VenueServer3.py command from i.e. what you describe is correct behaviour. However the fact that this new cfg file contained the wrong textPort number is worrying. Could you send a copy of one of these new (wrong) .cfg files and also a relevant bit of the VenueServer.log file, if possible, or otherwise raise a bug report that includes this information please?

I upgraded our VenueServer with the Slack11 packages for Beta2. Now
when clients connect to our server, the text chat doesn't work. It
says "You have to be connected to a venue to send a text message". In
the VenueServer3.cfg file I have:

textPort = 5223
textHost = jabber.mcs.anl.gov

This has been tested with Windows and Mac clients.
