Re: [AG-TECH] AG single node hardware

Patrick, I built a portable AG node from an earlier Supermicro board
that supports dual Intel Xeon 3.4 processors. I know its not the dual
core, but it has been working for stable for about two years now.
Combined with onboard audio, 3 WinTV capture cards and a quad Matrox
G200-MMS video card, even with a lot of video streams the system is
almost idle.

Hello everyone,
I am looking at constructing a single computer Access Grid node. I've
been to the http://www.accessgrid.org/hardware site and done numerous
web searches, but have not been able to locate current "build your own"
single board node information. I was wondering if anyone has
experience with modern Supermicro boards(particularly the current dual
core Xeon systems). I'm considering the X7DAE, X7DBE, or X7DB3 and
would like you to share good or bad experiences. I'm also concerned
about the noise level if I go with a recommended Supermicro case for one
of these boards. If not Supermicro, is there a dual processor Xeon 5100
series board that is "recommended?" Or should I avoid building from
scratch?

Thanks to all in advance.
