My name is Mike Piasecki (Assoc
Prof. at Drexel University) and I am involved with the CUAHSI and CLEANER
(PI B. Minsker) environmental observatory system initiatives. As part of
these efforts but also having several projects associated to these
efforts we (the multiPI groups) are in need of a robust and reliable
means of audio and video meeting environment.
After having talked about it for
a long time we finally decided to try to use the ACCESS Grid.
I volunteered to take the lead
on this and figure how we can get all Pis on the AccessGrid table, i.e.
we are looking for a multiple one-to-one or one-to-many setup of the
ToolKit. We have a mixed environment of XP and MAC OS users. We are not
very technically savvy when it comes to dealing with AccessGrid in
general and Python in particular, hence can you help?
I downloaded the required
software pieces from the Accessgrid.org site in the order they were
announced and pretty much just followed the default settings in the setup
programs. The installation process places a Venue Client icon on the
desktop and everything seems ready to start. Clicking of the icon though
does not launch the script, actually none of the scripts in the AGTk-3
directory can be launched using pythonw (C:\Program Files\python23). I
can launch python (command line) and also find a pythonwin.exe. program
in the \Lib\site-packages\pythonwin directory but none of them seem to
help in getting the scripts running. Pythonw of course doesn't give any
traceback information which leaves an uninformed user a little in the
dark.
I tried 2 different XP system
and I always end up being stuck at this very
point: the icon won't launch the
pythinw environment and the 2 piped scripts
: runag3.py and
VenueClient3.py
I was wondering whether you
could give me clue as to why this is and how I could potentially remedy
the situation.
Many thanks in advance for your
help
Mike
