Just reporting my experience:
I had the problems described by Andy which were solved after installing 
the driver reported below:

- VFW drivers ftp://64.62.227.4/drivers/Videum_3_1_Release_NT_W2K_XP.exe 
found on winnov.com
- AGtk2.4
- IG2

Whichever client is started first, takes over the *two* cameras connected.
