Re: [AG-TECH] Fwd: how do I fix this runtime error?

Dear All,

Thanks for the responses.
I have uninstalled AGTk-2.3 and installed AGTk- 2.4 and the problem has disappeared.
But I'll keep my fingers crossed!

thanks again

That is, unfortunately, a high-level error message that tells you nothing about the problem. One case in which this happens is when the camera is not plugged in, as identified in this (very old) bug:

http://bugzilla.mcs.anl.gov/AccessGrid/show_bug.cgi?id=316

I've also seen this behavior under other conditions (drivers not installed, or not installed properly, or misconfiguration of the camera).

If you clarify details about your camera and the conditions under which the error occurs, we might be able to help.

Richard,
Sorry no one got back to you before, I am sure most other AG people are at least as busy as I am!
As for your error message, was there any way to see more details? Typically in Windows, if memory serves, there is some way when run-time errors come up, to get more detail.
Without more of the technical info though from the run-time error, it will be hard to figure out the problem. >From general experience though, uninstalling, rebooting, and reinstalling can often do the trick, if that is not a burden.
I hope that helps some!

Hi All,

The following message was posted to ag-tech earlier this week and to date there have been no replies. So I guess this means it's a new problem, or outside the scope of this list. My plan is to reinstall the AG software and hope that fixes the problem. What do you think?

thanks

Richard

*Subject: how do I fix this runtime error?
*
Hi All,

Last week while trying to connect to a venue I could see and hear
everyone but they could not see or hear me. Today I tried to test
my node and connected to the APAG lobby and the Argonne lobby.
Each time I connected it appeared that the same symptoms occurred
and the following error was displayed:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!

Program: ...a\AccessGrid\local_services\VideoProducerService\vic.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an
unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Richard
