Re: [AG-TECH] Matrox QID card

It's probably bad form to resurrect an old thread but I'd just like to thank everyone that helped with my questions about replacing the PCI NVidia Quadro we had with the Matrox QID. We got the new cards (I got a PCI Millenium P650 too) in this morning and they work so much better than than the Quadro. I have it set up (in case anyone was curious) as:

Matrox QID AGP (QID-QDA8X128)

Runs 4 LCD projectors in 2x2 formation at 1024x768 per projector.

Matrox Millenium P650 PCI (P65-MDDAP64)

Runs TFT monitor via one of its two DVI outputs

I noticed you have to have all of the outputs the same on the QID card and we only had a couple of the DVI projector cables around, so at the moment the projector display is running via VGA cables. When I get replacements I'll have them all running via DVI.
Performance is certainly a big step up from the Nvidia Quadro PCI card, I can many have large video windows at 32bpp resolution and move them quickly and smoothly around the display. I couldn't do that before with the Quadro. Setting the default monitor in windows is easy and all the apps open on the TFT screen first.
Is there somewhere, even unofficial that we can collect information about what set ups work well for multi-display AG nodes? Would that be useful for anyone? I know I benefitted from knowing that a number of people were doing what I had planned/wanted to do.

Just thought I'd chime in to say that we've been using the Matrox QID
(non-pro) on AGP on our AG node since last summer and it has worked
great. As already mentioned, you can do four DVI in either 1x4 or
2x2...

       Yea, I figured it would be best to have all the projectors on the QID
card. That's great you're doing the same thing I was thinking about
trying and it's working for you.

       Thanks,

Derek,

You most likely would want to use all the fastest graphicvs "heads" for
the projectors for the participants (AGP or PCIe) and use the older PCI
slot for the console. We use an AGP QID and a Matrox G450 PCI for our
node and things work just fine.

display 2 -> 1st projector display
display 3 -> 2nd projector display
display 4 -> 3rd projector display

Matrox Parhelia PCI
display 1 -> 4th projector display
display 2 -> ?
