What are you trying to use? In my experience, RAT does not "see" the mic
associated with a webcam, for example. However, it "sees" my internal
mic on my G4 powerbook.
I don't have a mic in the firewire camera, rather I'm trying to use the
plain stock sound device. What's weird, is that the level bars move when
someone talks. Also, if I change volume in the mixer, I hear that "beep"
sound.
When you say that the bars move - do you mean the "record" set of bars
on the right? IOW, have you selected the "talk" check-box?
