Re: [AG-TECH] Node setup Wizard

Patrick,

Do you already have alsa installed? You might try Uvh instead too. Try installing all the RPMs except the alsa ones and see where that gets you. Since I didn't have a problem, I'm merely guessing I'm afraid.

Rpm -ivh wxGTK* alsa* openoffice* gpt* wxPython* globus* wxmozilla*
AccessGrid*

I get the following output and then it hangs ...

I appreciate your help,

Patrick,

I agree with David. Use 2.3, I had an amazingly easier time
getting things to work, not to mention 2.3 is a usable speed (2.2 was slow as molasses for me for some reason).
For simplicity and to avoid confusion I would uninstall previous

versions as much as possible.

For Windows, get and install the following:
AGTk-2.3-Py-2.3.exe
ActivePython-2.3.2-232-win32-ix86.msi
wxPythonWIN32-2.5.1.5-Py23.exe

For RedHat, get and install all the RPMS from here:

http://www.itee.uq.edu.au/~grangenet/ag_fedora/FC1/stable/RPMS/

You should probably read these notes too:

http://www.itee.uq.edu.au/~grangenet/ag_fedora/

Yes, it says Fedora Core1, but they work with no problems in
RedHat9. I'd hope it'd work on Enterprise too. If they're dedicated machines you could always go the Gentoo route too, since it appears to be 'officially

supported' by ANL.

I have a RedHat and XP machine for our node and it worked great.
I had the whole lot running in an hour.

I am trying AGTk 2.2 I thought that 2.2 being one version behind the

I'm on a tight deadline to get this up and running. I'm looking for
the

easiest and most documented path to getting a Access Grid Node up and
running.

I have two RedHat Enterprise Linux computers and one XP Pro computer.
Do I need to uninstall everything and start over? What version should
I

go with?

I hope you meant 2.3 or 2.1. IMHO, 2.2 was a mess and should be avoided.
2.3 is much more stable and functional.

Go directly to 2.3 or stay at 2.1.

I'm having trouble running the Node Setup Wizard under AGTk 2.2

I have two Linux systems running RHEL v.3 (audio and video capture)
and

one Windows XP Pro system for my display.

I first started the AGServiceManager.py on each of the Linux systems.
Each system replies with a "bound to port 12000" and no errors.

The XP system also starts the Service Manager Service with no errors
but

when I start the Node Setup Wizard I get an error "Can not start Node
Setup Wizard". There are no other error messages and nothing in the
event viewer. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks,

Patrick Johnson
