And thanks for the pointer to rdesktop! I didn't know that this existed. Since I use both VNC and Remote Desktop all the time, it's quite cool to have another tool that expands my reach.

Yep, incorrect assumption, using the AGTk VenueClient GUI, you can only connect to a VenueVNC server, not an arbitary VNC server.
Sorry, my above comment didn't come out right and makes no sense. To clear things up:

If you point a VenueVNC server at a URL on a venue server and the VenueClient is using that same URL, then a VenueVNC entry will appear
under "Application Sessions" in the VenueClient. If you then open that VenueVNC entry, a VenueVNC client will start up
