Nalco Fuel Tech is a small, 100%US-owned business of approximately 55 employees. The company was formed four years ago and is based in Naperville, Illinois. Nalco Fuel Tech currently provides air pollution control technology under more than 75 commercial contracts in the electric utility, industrial, and waste incineration markets both domestic and international. Such technology is essential to US industry to achieve its goal of meeting stringent air emission regulations that take effect starting in 1995 as part of the amended Clean Air Act. To meet this need, Nalco Fuel Tech has developed the NOxOUT process. This process injects reagent into flue gases to achieve emission reductions of nitrogen oxides of up to 90 percent. Their combustion modeling software is a key component in obtaining near-optimal performance for the NOxOUT system under different operating parameters and site-specific combustion geometries. Given that the modeling process is critical their competitiveness, Nalco Fuel Tech is willing to commit a substantial percentage of research and development time for this project.
