(Message AR/AWARD-2003:52) Date: Wed, 14 May 2003 09:48:50 -0500 Message-Id: <200305141448.h4EEmok13151@theorem.mcs.anl.gov> From: William McCune Subject: Argonne Workshop arrangements Dear AWARD-2003 Invitees: Response to the invitations has been great. It looks like 14 or 15 plan to attend, plus 2 "maybes". We'll try to keep the web page http://www.mcs.anl.gov/~mccune/award-2003/ up to date. Local Arrangements. 1. Gate passes. Everyone will need one (any traveling companions will also need gate passes if they will be staying with you at the Guest House). Non-US citizens should contact Judy Beumer (beumer@mcs.anl.gov) NOW(!!), because extra paperwork has to be done. US citizens should contact Judy before the end of June. 2. Lodging. We recommend the Argonne Guest House: http://www.aps.anl.gov/travel/anlghhome.html Reservations: (800) 632-8990 or (630) 739-6000 You should book your own room (booking and payment are just like an ordinary hotel). The rate should be $65/night. Or share a four-bedroom suite for $240/night. They are holding a block of rooms until June 25. When you book, refer to "AWARD-2003". (If they don't know about AWARD-2003 yet, book anyway.) 3. Local transportation. You probably won't need to rent a car. I assume a few people will have cars, and that can get us all out to dinner. A limo between O'Hare or Midway and Argonne is about $35. I assume several participants will be flying in Wednesday afternoon, and we can try to optimize. 4. Computing. The Guest House has free ethernet in the rooms, and the meeting rooms in Building 221 have ethernet (wired and wireless) and projectors for laptops. Anything else? Bill
